Weave your heart! Learn to weave freestyle and free-spirited on a simple, easy-to-use floor loom. Honor your inner sense of beauty and truth as you play with color, texture, and technique, and come away with a unique piece of woven art that reflects your creative spirit (yes, you do have one!). The class will emphasize play, experimentation, and individual exploration of color and texture in the service of personal expression; a few simple weaving techniques will be taught along the way. Students just need to bring their willingness to experiment and explore–and to practice imperfection! Students will take home what they weave.
Students will learn the basic skills of freestyle weaving on a highly approachable two-harness floor loom. The class will emphasize play, experimentation, and individual exploration of color and texture in the service of personal expression; a few simple weaving techniques will be taught along the way.
No previous experience with weaving required (though experienced weavers are as welcome as complete novices). Freestyle weaving is intended to be accessible to everyone, no matter their level of skill or knowledge.
Class open to students 8 years old and up; students must be tall enough to reach the floor pedals on the looms and able to focus for the duration of the class.
Class Fee includes materials and use of warped SAORI loom; use of associated tools (shuttles, bobbins, etc.); access to and use of a wide variety of different weaving materials, including yarn in various fibers, colors, and textures, embroidery floss, fabric scraps, fiber, trim, beads, wire, Mylar, etc. Each student will also get a bag of fibery treasures to keep; these can be used in class, in a future weaving, or both.

Blending of wool and other fibers to achieve different color effects is possible using almost any type of tool that can be used for fiber preparation. This includes everything from simple pet combs and dog brushes to more specific tools like hand cards, blending boards and combs. Come and explore the wonder of color effects from streaks and swirls to true optical blending. Samples of color blends and resulting yarns will be available for viewing and discussion. Handouts will be provided.
Optical blending with different types of dyed fiber, including wool, mohair, and angora to achieve a variety of color effects. We'll explore the concepts of tint, tone, shade, and value using dyed fibers. Basics of using hand cards and combs will be covered.
No prior experience is necessary. Desire to learn and experiment.

Have you wanted to get learn how to chain ply or become more proficient in your chain/Navajo plying techniques? This is the perfect class to learn, or brush up on your chain plying skills. We’ll go over the benefits and drawbacks of chain plying, what it’s best used for, and when to use this plying technique.
Students will learn the essentials ofhain plying, when to use it, or brush up on their chain plying techniques.
This class is best suited for those students who can already spin a consistent single and know the basics of plying. Students should come prepared with one bobbin of spun singles and two additional empty bobbins, along with a lazy Kate. All wheels must be in good working order and students must have a basic understanding of how their specific wheel works.
Students must have a spinning wheel in good working order and have knowledge on how to use their wheel and bring a wheel maintenance kit.

Come learn the basics of peg loom weaving while creating a beautiful woven piece that can be used as a scarf, wall hanging or more. Peg loom weaving is a fun, easy to learn technique and great for all ages and abilities. It is a basic and ancient form of weaving. While no one knows for sure when these popular and simple looms were first used, some believe that peg loom weaving is a technique used by the early Vikings and European settlers. Peg Looms are so simple to use that anyone can create beautiful and useful woven items, including rugs, doormats, wall hangings, scarves, bags, baskets, blankets, wearable art and more. It is an ideal way to use a variety of yarns, fleece, and roving; or you can up-cycle recycled fabric, t-shirts, and even plastic bags.
In this workshop you will learn how to plan your project, warp the loom, the basic weaving technique of tabby or plain weave and how to change colors or materials. You will also learn how to remove your work from the loom and how to finish the ends in different ways. At the end of the workshop, you will have a finished homemade item to take away with you. After taking this class your imagination will be the only boundaries of your creativity.
Student should bring scissors and a willingness to experiment and have fun!
A materials fee of $40 is included in the class fee and consists of core-spun yarn and appropriate warp to weave a project. The instructor will also provide peg looms for students to use in the workshop. If they desire, students will have the opportunity to purchase looms after class.

Join new fiber friends as we create a fabulous, felted pendant or brooch. We will combine needle felting with a smidge of embroidery (optional) and then finish the felt as a pendant or brooch. Students will have the opportunity to complete both. These would make great gifts for yourself or friends! 😊
Students wil learn various needle felting and embroidery techniques.
Student should bring a small sharp scissors and a willingness to experiment and have fun! (Don’t worry if you don’t have scissors – I’ll have some on hand.)

Have you ever been intrigued by the Turkish spindle and wanted to know what the hype was all about? In this three-hour class, you’ll learn the basics of spinning on a Turkish Spindle. We’ll cover a little bit of spindle history, why the Turkish spindle is so appealing, spinning and winding methods, and how to ply from your “spindle created center-pull ball.”
The basics of spinning singles and learning to ply on a Turkish spindle.
No experience required - beginners welcome!
Material fee of $15 is included in class fee and consists of 2 ounces of spinning fiber, "plying cups," WPI tool, resource guide, and the use of a Turkish spindle. Students will have the option at the end of class to purchase the spindle used in class for a fee of $25.

For those who have mastered tatting rings, it is time to add chains! In this class students will learn to add a second thread to add chains to rings, forming a continuous length of lace or more complicated medallions. We will learn: * tatting over tails to begin work * dropping the shuttle thru the ring before closing (and why) * Adding a new thread * front and backside tatting * hiding thread ends at the finish of the work. We will create a sample length of lace with tags for each skill.
Students must be comfortable with the basic tatting stitch and creating a ring.
All class materials are included, as well as a tatting shuttle and a pattern book.

Have you ever looked at combs and wondered how and why they are used? Or perhaps avoided combs completely because they look so dangerous. In this class, combs will be demystified. Combs are a versatile tool that serve well for making worsted spinning preparations, cleaning, and separating fibers and even color blending.
Basic combing techniques with opportunities to try a variety of combs for different purposes using wool and other fibers. We'll cover the ergonomics of combing, as well as safely using and storing combs.
No experience is needed. Instructor will supply all the necessary tools.
Students may bring their own combs for advice and evaluation, and/or fibers that they would like to process using combs, but this is not required

Embroidery is a decorative technique that’s making a comeback. From historic designs pulled from museum collections to whimsical images by modern designers, there’s a variety of images that one can create with fabric, colorful threads, and a needle. This class will teach you several common stitches used for embroidery (including backstitch, satin, stem stitch, and French knots), along with the skills needed to start a project (how to thread a needle, knot your thread, and tension your hoop). Time to practice stitches and how to troubleshoot common problems will also be part of the class.
Students will learn how to do several common stitches used for embroidery (including backstitch, satin, stem stitch, and French knots). Students would be provided with a section of fabric with basic shapes to practice stitches with, along with a pattern to embroider. Discussion of thread characteristics, how to thread a needle, knot your thread, tensioning your hoop, where to find materials/kits, and troubleshooting will be discussed, and students will be given time to practice during the class.

Tempted by spinning but not sure a regular wheel’s for you? Intrigued by the idea of making just the yarn you want but not sure where you’d put a wheel if you had one? Feet/knees not doing what you want as painlessly as they used to, making the whole treadling part of wheel spinning look less than fun? Take an e-spinner for, well, a spin! Try several out in this experiential, process-oriented class for folks just starting their spinning journey. E-spinners are small, tabletop-friendly, juiced up and ready to go–you might discover one that’s just right for you!
Students will learn and practice some bedrock spinning skills while trying out multiple different e-spinners. By the end of the class, new spinners should have a sense of whether spinning on an e-spinner is for them and know a bit more about how various e-spinners work and how they compare with one another as well as with analog wheels.
No previous experience required; class is specifically designed for new spinners who want to explore e-spinning.
Class open to students 12 years old and up. Students must have enough manual dexterity to hold and draft wool roving and must be able to to focus for the duration of the class.

Have you been spinning protein fibers (wool, camelid, or silk), and are now curious about spinning cellulose fibers (cotton, flax, and other plant fibers)? This class will give you the chance to start exploring. In addition to discussing fiber preparation techniques and the types of cellulose fibers available to spinners today, the class will cover spinning singles yarn, why to ply your yarn (or not), and some common issues encountered while spinning this fiber.
Students will be introduced to the methods used to turn cellulose materials into to spinning fiber. Spinning singles, plying, winding off onto a niddy noddy or other item, and setting the twist and scouring (where applicable) will be discussed as well. Common problems (joining new fiber, yarn breaking, lumpy spots, and others) will be discussed. Students will be encouraged to ask questions and experiment in the session, and sent home with several cellulose fibers to experiment with.
Students should bring a spinning wheel or drop spindle that the student is comfortable using (required), notebook or other notetaking device (optional) .
Class fee includes materials of a small towel; dowel/ribbon distaff; bowl for water; 4 ounces of various cellulose fibers (dependent on what is available at the time of the event)

Get ready for your newest craft addiction! While this traditional embroidery technique has been around for centuries it has recently come back in a big and modern way in the crafting community. Learn beginner punch needle techniques as you design and make your own unique piece in this fun and relaxing workshop. Due to the wonderful detail you can create, punch needle embroidery is often called painting with thread. It is a form of embroidery worked with a special punch needle that creates different sized loops on the front of the fabric. This craft is easy to learn, gives quick results and makes stunning textile art. You'll work on a small design (approximately 7”-9"), use a punch needle tool to embroider an image with yarn, and gain the know-how to create more pieces on your own! The skills learned can also be used to make wall hangings, pillows, rugs, and more! Alesia will teach you everything you need to know to get started with this meditative and relaxing craft. Beginners are welcome – no experience is required, and all materials included. ***Punch Needle designs can be worked with yarn or embroidery thread. The technique is the same, but the tools are different. Students will have the option to choose which they would prefer. Additional punch needle tools/fabric can be purchased if you want to try both.
Students will learn punch needle basics while completing a simple project.
